Applications are open for the 2027–2029 CFO Alliance Global Advisory Board

The board is the group of members who decide what CFO Alliance builds next. If you’d rather build than watch, applications close Friday, December 4.

A board title is easy to collect. A seat on ours comes with work, and the work is the point.

The CFO Alliance Global Advisory Board is a group of members, all of them finance leaders, who decide what our community builds next. Its 2027–2029 term starts February 1. Seats are for paid CFO Alliance members in good standing. If you’re not a member yet, taking a seat means becoming one.

What the board has on the table right now

Each of the board’s four committees is building something:

1. Talent Development: Aaron Wilkins, Ken Merritt, Malima Colin and Amy Dickerson are building a Knowledge, Skills and Abilities framework for the finance leadership bench, and testing it this fall with finance leaders, recruiters and PE/VC investors.

2. Membership: Chip Cresswell leads the member survey that will define what membership is worth, its levels and what sets them apart.

3. Technology & Innovation: Doug Cunningham and Barry Hartzberg lead Tech Greenlight, the AI Hub in CFO Commons and the new CFOA AI Special Task Force.

4. Strategic Partnerships & Alliances: I’m leading this one, on how our partners show up at the CFO Alliance Experience 2027 and across the community.

What a seat asks, and what it gives back

I’ll be straight about it. The next board asks more of each seat:

–     3 of 4 quarterly board meetings

–     An active seat on one committee

–     3 or more in-person CFOA events a year, and the CFO Alliance Experience during the term

–     At least one case study a year for our online community

–     4 new member or partner introductions a year

–     Showing up in the board’s group and helping carry our content to your network

In return, board members take the lead roles at our roundtables and at the Experience. They get a voice on CFOA.com, our Level Up podcast, partner conferences and events, and our CFO.com coverage, and they see our research and Special Task Force work first.

A hundred finance leaders in Middleburg next May

In May we’re hosting our first-ever CFO Alliance Experience: about 100 finance leaders at Salamander Middleburg, Virginia, for two nights and two and a half days during the week of May 10, 2027. Board members take the lead roles there, whether that’s hosting a session or a table, bringing a peer CFO, opening a partner door or helping shape the program.

Who we hope raises a hand

You’re in the top finance seat or one seat from it: CFO, VP Finance, Controller or FP&A lead, seated or fractional. You run finance at an emerging or mid-market company, with a lean team and too much on your plate, and you’d still rather build than watch.

Between now and February 1

–     Friday, December 4: applications close

–     December 7 to January 15: short conversations with finalists

–     January 27: the new board is announced

–     February 1: the 2027–2029 term starts
